Enshrouded on PS5 — Starter Guide for New Players

Enshrouded 1.0 marked the game’s console debut on PlayStation 5 (October 15, 2026). If you are picking up Embervale on PS5 for the first time, this guide covers what is the same, what is different, and how to get started.

Is the PS5 version the full game?

Yes. PS5 players get the complete 1.0 release — the full world map including Cinder’s Cradle, the full story, Sparkworks, co-op for up to 16 players, and all future content updates on the same schedule as PC.

Does Enshrouded on PS5 support crossplay?

Yes, with PC (Steam). Crossplay works through the in-game friends system: add your friend by their Keen Games / in-game username (not their PSN ID), make sure both players have crossplay enabled in the settings, and invite through the Social tab. Our crossplay status page tracks the details and known issues.

How do you add friends on PS5?

1. Open the pause menu and go to the Social tab
2. Use search by player name/ID to find your friend — this works across platforms when crossplay is on
3. Send a friend request, then invite them once accepted
4. Set your world to Friends Only or Public before loading in — invites cannot bypass a private world

What are the most important things to do first?

The priorities are identical to PC — our beginner guide applies line for line. In short: place your Flame Altar, respect the Shroud timer, rescue the Blacksmith first, take Double Jump and Blink early, and glide everywhere.

A few console-specific notes:

• Rebind early if needed. Dodge (Blink) and jump are your most-used inputs; put them on comfortable shoulder buttons
• Use a wired or low-latency connection for co-op. As the host, your connection quality decides everyone’s experience — if friends lag, check your NAT type (Open is best)
• Headphones recommended. 1.0 added full voice acting — the story lands much better with dialogue audible

Do PS5 and PC get updates at the same time?

Keen Games ships content updates simultaneously across platforms. Hotfixes occasionally roll out platform-by-platform for certification reasons, but the game versions converge quickly; if a friend on PC cannot join your world, one of you likely needs the latest patch.

What about Xbox?

The Xbox Series X|S version is planned for spring 2027. Crossplay support for that version will be confirmed closer to launch — check our crossplay status page for updates.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need PS Plus to play online? Yes — online co-op on PS5 requires an active PlayStation Plus subscription, as with any paid online game.

Can I transfer a PC save to PS5? There is no cross-progression between platforms as of the 1.0 launch. Your character stays on the platform where it was created.

Does the PS5 version have mods? No — mods are a PC feature. Console and PC crossplay lobbies therefore run vanilla rules.
