Enshrouded 1.0 Skill Tree Guide — All Changes & Best Nodes
The 1.0 skill tree rework explained: what changed, the free reset, new skills, and which nodes to pick first in Enshrouded.
The skill tree is the heart of character building in Enshrouded — and 1.0 shook it up harder than any update since Early Access began. This guide explains what changed and what to do with your points.

What changed in the 1.0 skill tree?
- Free reset on first load. When an existing save opens in 1.0, your tree is reset and every point is refunded. Re-spend them before you leave your base — your old build will not work as-is
- New skills. 1.0 adds Aerial Wand Attack, Wand Evasion Attack, Advanced Necromancy, Totem Mastery, Blast and Cast, Puncture, Barrage and Survival Instinct
- Daggers moved. Dagger skills relocated to the assassin side of the tree — stealth builds route differently now
- Armor grants skill ranks. In 1.0, armor and rings add ranks to skills, so gear choices now shape your build as much as point spend
- Food grants damage. Meals add damage rather than raw attributes — build planning extends to your kitchen
How do skill points work in 1.0?
You earn points from three sources, and the cap is now character level 50:
- Level-ups — combat, quests and crafting XP
- Shroud Roots — red roots inside Shroud zones, +1 point each
- Elixir Wells — blue wells, usually deeper in the Shroud, +3 points each
Progression also starts earlier than in Early Access: placing your first Flame Altar grants a level-up, and freeing the Blacksmith grants another. For the full early-game route, see our beginner guide.
Which nodes should every build take first?
Before committing to a weapon path, experienced players consistently grab the central mobility/survival nodes — they pay off in every fight and every biome:
| Skill | Why first |
|---|---|
| Double Jump | Reach, escapes, positioning — useful everywhere |
| Blink | Your dodge becomes a short teleport through enemies |
| Updraft | Turns steep terrain and climbing into shortcuts |
How is the tree structured?
The tree is organized into themed paths (Warrior, Barbarian, Battlemage, Wizard, Trickster, Healer, Guardian, Survivor and others) connected to a central hub. You are not locked into a class — you combine paths, as long as you can trace a connection to each node you want. The practical pattern: one primary combat path + one support path + the hub skills.
What are the strongest paths in 1.0?
The community consensus is still forming (1.0 is days old), but the paths with the strongest track record from late Early Access — and untouched or buffed in 1.0 — are:
- Battlemage / Wizard — wand and staff damage scaling, now with nine new spells and eternal variants. See our 1.0 mage build
- Warrior / Barbarian — melee health, attack speed and stagger pressure
- Healer — sustain skills like Water Aura that any solo build can slot
- Assassin (daggers) — repositioned in 1.0; worth a fresh look if you played daggers before
Our best builds overview turns these into complete loadouts with point orders.
Should you respec after the 1.0 reset?
Almost certainly yes — and it costs you nothing. Skills were repositioned and re-costed, food and armor changed what “stats” mean, and new nodes opened better routes through the tree. Even if you want the same playstyle, re-derive it rather than recreating it from memory.
Frequently asked questions
How many skills are in the 1.0 tree? Community data sources list 169 skills across the paths, including attributes — the exact count can shift with balance patches.
Can I reset my skill tree after the free one? Yes, respec items exist in-game (earned through play), so experimenting is encouraged.
Do Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells respawn? No — each is a one-time source of skill points per world, which is why guides tell you to clear every zone.
